Thoughts at 1:11AM

My alarm is supposed to go off in 4 hours.  I am wide awake, obviously. I’m leaving for Paris, and this will be the first time I’ve been there since I was 7 years old.  Clearly, I’m very excited right now, but when I was 7, all I remember is walking around being bored and miserable all the time because I was forced to go to museums.  This time, I’ll be with good friends and maybe it will be more fun? I don’t know!! I’ll update with pictures!!

Pictures from my trip to Oxford and Stratford yesterday.  Oxford was kind of a bust because we didn’t really have a lot of time to explore, plus it was rainy/cold.  Stratford was more of a sentimental trip for me, so I enjoyed going there a lot more.

I performed my first Shakespeare play when I was a freshman in high school with A Midsummer Nights Dream and haven’t performed one since I was in The Merchant of Venice my senior year.  During my time in high school, performing Shakespeare made learning about him in the classroom bearable.  I appreciated his plays no matter how boring they got, I understood his jokes, I even had fun memorizing his lines, and trust me, it’s not an easy task.  When I was a sophomore, I did a project on Shakespeare and I found pictures of his grave and the monument and I thought to myself, “Wow, I would love to go there someday.”  I actually thought that it would never happen, but then there I was, 5 years later standing before his grave.  It was the first time I truly got emotional.  I keep saying this over and over again, but I am so fortunate to be here right now.  I came here to see things I thought that I would never get to see, and to experience things I thought I would never do.  The idea that this is all real is crazy, and I am just happy, and nothing can ruin that feeling.

My first (and probably only) big trip of study abroad.  It was all settled today, and I’m so freaking excited, I cannot form words right now.  I can’t help but think how fortunate I am.  Not only am I studying in London, my dream city, but I get to visit all of these beautiful places in and outside of England.  Tomorrow, I’ll be visiting Oxford and Stratford….where freaking Harry Potter was filmed and Stratford is where Shakespeare was born.  I’ve completely lost the ability to even, I love it here so much.
I’ll be taking plenty of pictures, so keep an eye out!

Some pictures from my beautiful day in Kensington Gardens.  This statue was the number one thing I wanted to see when I came to London.  I had a free day today so last night at 1AM I thought, “I want to see Kensington Gardens, so I am going to find out out to get there and go!” so I did that.  It was probably the most beautiful and peaceful day I have spent in London so far.  Walking around Kensington Gardens reminded me of walking around Boston Common and the Public Garden, but with a lot more to see.  While I was walking around Kensington Gardens, I came across this giant palace-like building and it turns out it was Kensington Palace AKA where William and Kate currently live.  I went to William and Kate’s house today, and it was awesome.  I haven’t been updating a lot, and I want to be much better about it.  Basically I’ve been going to class and walking around London.  Maybe some outside of London trips happening, but I’m not sure yet.  I’ll keep you posted!
